Spiritual Growth
Nurture … Grow … Inspire … Empower
Christian education represents a core aspect of our mission at Lutheran Church of the Messiah. We believe in the importance of learning about, teaching and sharing God’s word and his gifts of forgiveness and grace with our congregation, our community and the world.
We believe that nurturing our faith through education enables us to grow in knowledge and experience. It inspires and empowers each of us to live as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Children’s Ministry
Messiah’s Children’s Ministry has a clear and significant mission. We seek to plant the seed of God’s word in every child’s heart, allowing their relationships with God, family and others to grow so that they may bear lasting fruit that pleases God.
Sunday School
Sunday school meets every Sunday from 9:45-10:45 am. Classes are held from September through May for children ages 3-10. They begin each Sunday in the children’s chapel downstairs, with praise and worship. Another class for children 11 years and up is a computer-based, bible research class.

Confirmation Ministry
Messiah’s Confirmation Ministries aim at helping our children grown in faith and personal commitment to Christ; learning the basic teachings of the Christian Faith and the Lutheran Church; and helping the child to engage in more meaningful participation in the life of the Church as a disciple of Christ. Learning takes place through such experiences as fellowship, worship, Holy Communion and an intensified period of study that usually begins in the 7th grade.

Adult Educational Programs
Messiah’s Learning Committee understands the importance of seeking Christ first with a thirst to know God. A bible study is a great tool to aid in this part of our Christian faith. Our adult bible study programs are chosen with the belief that learning and understanding takes place inside and outside of the sanctuary doors, and a comprehensive bible study affords members at Messiah a viable opportunity.
Sunday School
Adult Sunday school is held from 9:45-10:45am in the Fellowship hall. The 2008-2009 session is titled “Luther: Gospel, Law and Reformation”, and it will continue for 24 weeks.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
We are happy to announce that Messiah has registered and committed to following the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s (ELCA) “Book of Faith” initiative beginning in 2009. This adult, mid-week bible study will explore and practice Lutheran approaches to Scripture, and offer resources to help us understand what the Bible says to us as individuals and a community of faith.
